The saying that one good turn deserves another played out yesterday at Atan Offot, Uyo, when electorate in Offot I, Ward 6, Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, reassured the governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, of their decision to support all the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the ward for the 2023 general elections.

They noted that the support was in reciprocity to the dividends of democracy the governor has brought in the area for years.

Speaking at the PDP ward tour meeting on Monday evening, the political leader of Uyo, Prince Enobong Enobong Uwah, said his people would never be ungrateful to the governor for all he did for them, saying that now is the time to pay back by supporting all candidates of the party.

According to him, “the people of PDP Ward 6 can never be ungrateful owning to the fact that this ward has benefited massively from this government and cannot betray the PDP and Ward 6 would continue to support the government.”

He also acknowledged the support of the stakeholders in Ward 6 and promised that effective governance which the PDP government is known for would be sustained.

Also speaking, the executive chairman of Uyo, Dr. Uwemedimo E. Udo,  said the hallmark of the meeting was to gather the strenght of grassroots movement that the PDP is known for.

He said, “PDP has decided to take the campaigns to ward and unit level whereby the council gets to interface with the electorate based on the performances of Governor Emmanuel with assurances that our governorship candidate, Pst Umo Eno,would continue with the good governance.”

He noted that Ward 6 has enjoyed dividends of democracy bothin the  infrastructure and human capital developments, saying: ”the internal roads in Atan Offot had been completed and commissioned. The place that houses PDP in the state, FEYRePand other government institutions is a testament that the PDP-led government has done well.”
