The Chairman, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Service Commission, Barr Goddy Umoh has dismissed the speculations that Governor Udom Emmanuel is trying to impose his successor on the people.
Speaking with newsmen in Uyo, the former PDP State Legal Adviser said Governor Udom Emmanuel has the constitutional rights to have interest on who succeeds him at the end of his tenure in 2023, adding that the Governor was exercising his fundamental human right.
He described Pastor Umo Eno as an entrepreneur and a successful business man who can lift the state to its enviable heights with his wealth of experience when given a chance.
Barr Umoh, who was a former Commissioner for Special Duties in the state, stated that Governor Emmanuel has made the right choice for Akwa Ibom State and called on the people to accept and support Pastor Umo Eno for continuity and consolidation of industrialization strides of the present administration.
While expressing confidence on the capacity of Pastor Umo Eno, the legal luminary said the entrepreneur has good intentions to transform the state and charged the governorship hopeful to focus on entrepreneurial development to create jobs for the teeming youths since government does not have the capacity to absorb all graduates churned into labour market.
He, however, described the agitation for micro zoning as effort in futility, noting that such agitation has no place in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
While observing that zoning is party’s arrangement for convinience, Barr Umoh commended Governor Emmanuel for abiding by the party’s zoning arrangement by supporting Uyo Senatorial District to produce the next Governor of the state.
The PDP stalwart pledged his support and loyalty to Governor Emmanuel and his succession plan while calling on those who are aggrieved to sheath their swords and support Pastor Umo Eno to succeed.
