The state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hasassured aspirants and Akwa Ibom people that the forthcoming nomination for the respective elective positions will produce quality candidates who will sustain the legacies of transformational leadership and effective representation that have been the trademark of the PDP.
The chairman, Elder Aniekan Akpan, who communicated the pledge on behalf of the party on Wednesday March 9, noted that the quality of party members aspiring to clinch the party’s ticket for 2023 governorship race are sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom State that the Party is proud of.
According to him, “With the quality of aspirants that we have, we are sure to go to the polls with great candidates and will win all positions, that is what PDP is known for.”
While receiving the campaign team of a frontline aspirant to the hilltop race, Mr Onofiok Luke, the chairman who restated the party’s position of equal treatment, commended the former Akwa Ibom State Assembly speaker and serving House of Representatives member for his commitment and contribution in building PDP in the state, encouraging him to promote peace and decorum in going about his consultations.
“The coming of Onofiok Luke today is a clear manifestation of the position of the party, that the party is open for all. What I can say is that the party appreciates you. We know you as a committed party man always available for all party activities.
“Today, you have shown again your commitment to the growth of the party.
What you have said today is what we have always been saying, that everything should be done peacefully.”
On his part, Onofiok Luke, member representing Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium in the House of Representatives, who was presented to the party by his campaign director general, MrImoh Udo, told the expanded State Exco of the PDP that hedecided to throw his heart into the ring for the contest for the gubernatorial position after several years of developing a blueprint that will address some of the challenges of development that Akwa Ibom State is facing at the moment.
The lawmaker who took time to chronicle the different foundations of socio-economic development laid by the previous governors in Akwa Ibom State, said he is coming to build on the solid and impressive legacies laid by the Governor Udom Emmanuel administration.
While noting that he shall pay attention to the critical sectors of Healthcare delivery, human capacity development, wealth creation, security and others, Luke called on the party to ensure that there is a level playing field for all aspirants seeking to succeed Governor Emmanuel in the forthcoming nomination of the Party.
