Elders, stakeholders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oron Federal Constituency, have reechoed their unflinching and unalloyed loyalty and support to the cause of the party, pledging to remain united under the PDP to clinch all elective positions in the forthcoming general elections in 2023.
Relaying their position in Oron on Tuesday March 8 at the kick-off of the party’s federal constituency tour, political leaders of Oro extraction expressed their resolve to remain committed to PDP which they said has been the only popular party in the area since 1999 and will continue to be.
At the stakeholders engagement, various speakers alluded to the massive acceptability of PDP in the federal constituency and unwavering support to Governor Udom Emmanuel’s completion agenda.
On his part, the state chairman of PDP, Elder Aniekan Akpan, thanked the stakeholders and members of the party in Oron Federal Constituency for their support and encouraged them to keep the flag flying, while advising key players in the area to sustain the democratic legacies of PDP and conduct themselves orderly in the build-up to 2023.
“We appreciate the party faithful here for your support to the party and the government produced by the party.
“We are sure and we have been assured that Oron Federal Constituency is PDP. We see that from the records which reflects that since 1999, Oron Federal CONSTITUENCY has been for PDP.”
“Every aspirant desires to serve the people. We appeal for decency and more importantly peace in the process of politicking. You cannot kill the people you are hoping to serve. Nobody deserves to die for promoting a cause,” he said.
Akpan who communicated the party’s satisfaction on the efforts put in to register new members from the federal constituency, tasked them to put more efforts in increasing the surge of new members in the party in the ongoing e-registration, reminding them the target of enrolling majority of eligible adults in the state as PDP members.
Harping on the need to maintain decorum, Akpan said that as the leader of the party in the state, Governor Udom Emmanuel is the brand of PDP and must be respected at all times.
The secretary to the state government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, while sharing thoughts at the meeting, reassured the delegation that Oro nation which is known for loyalty to a cause, will not relent in standing with the party to pursue another round of victory at the polls.
