The Akwa Ibom governor has reaffirmed his resolve to accord due honour to the traditional institution.
Mr Udom Emmanuel stated this when he presented a Sports Utility Vehicle, a 2022 model Toyota Prado VXR, to theparamount ruler of Oron, Ofong Odiong Akan.
Emmanuel said the gesture was a fulfillment of his earlier promise to the Oron royal father in line with his commitment to ensuring due honour to traditional rulers in Akwa Ibom.
He hoped that the vehicle would provide the monarch the needed logistics to discharge his duties, and tasked him to ensure a replication of the peace and order in the state in his domain.
The commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Mr Frank Archibong, lauded the governor for the gesture and affirmed that the vehicle would facilitate the movement of the royal father to a great extent.
The commissioner said Akan was one of the longest serving paramount rulers in the state and congratulated him for benefiting from the governor’s magnanimity.
The president-general, State Traditional Rulers Council and Oku Ibom Ibibio, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, while appreciating the governor’s support to the traditional institution in the state, thanked him specifically for the timely fulfillment of his promise to the paramount ruler of Oron.
The paramount ruler of Oron, Akan, expressed gratitude to the governor for the car gift and prayed God to bless the governorand his administration.
