Stakeholders and members of Akwa Ibom (PDP) United Family, Eket Senatorial District, have thrown their weight behind the governorship aspiration of the commissioner for lands and water resources, Pst. Umo Eno, as their candidate in the 2023 gubernatorial race.
This follows the official adoption of Eno by members of the group drawn from the 12 local government areas of the senatorial district at an event hosted by Mr. Ini Williams, a member of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the group in ONNA Local Government Area.
At the meeting, which had in attendance national officers, promoters, federal Constituency and chapter coordinators of the group from the senatorial district, Mr. Williams moved a motion to adopt Pst. Eno and was seconded by Mr Ime Udo
“Although the leadership and members of Ak-PUF had at a well attended meeting, which featured new year – get- togetherat the state headquarters in Uyo on February 4, endorsed Eno three days after he was announced as the preferred choice, we have to do this again as a mark of solidarity.
“We will continue to stand with him till the end, because today’s world is entrepreneurship- driven. We need job creation, while the industrialisation foundation laid Gov. Udom Emmanuel’s administration must be sustained.
“Who will do these and more? The answer is Pastor Umo Eno,” Mr Williams stressed
He assured members of his group that they are already stakeholders in Umo Eno’s project, adding that the current prevailing peace, security, industrialisation, job creation and empowerment will be sustained in the State.
Setting the tone, the Eket Senatorial District coordinator, Akwa Ibom (PDP) United Family (Ak-PUF), Iwaad Edward Esenowo lauded Mr Williams for hosting the group.
He assured the stakeholders that he will employ more political strategies to ensure that Eket Senatorial District gives Pst. Eno 100 per cent vote in both the PDP gubernatorial primary and the general elections.
In his remarks, the special guest at the event and director- general of the group, Evang. Obot Obot lauded the people of the district for the show of solidarity to Pst. Eno’s governorship aspiration, which he described as ‘Akwa Ibom Hope.”
Obot, who was accompanied to the event by the director of finance, Mr Unyime Essien, and director, media/publicity, Akuku Fidelis Udoh, particularly commended Mr Williams for organising such an event.
He used the occasion to announce to all chapters to come out enmass to receive their leader and state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Elder Aniekan Akpan, and his entourage as the party begins the sensitisation tour of the 10 federal constituencies on March 8.
Also speaking, the chief promoter of Ak-PUF in Onna, Evang Emmanuel Akpan, assured Eno not to worry over his nomination and election, as according to him, the political stakeholders in the senatorial district were in support of his aspiration.
In their separate remarks, the National Women Leader, Mrs Nseobong Owoebiak and Eket Senatorial District Women Leader, Mrs Iniobong Maurice, assured the leadership of the group of the women’s unwavering support.
Many stakeholders, including Oron Federal Constituency coordinator, Mr. Roland Ebek; director of Political and Inter Party Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel Edet; Eastern Obolo coordinator, Mr Waribo Isotuk Eket Local Government coordinator; UrueOffong/Oruko coordinator, Mr Etim Bassey, and Onna Local Government coordinator, Mr Ofonime Ekpo, spoke glowingly in support of the governorship hopeful.
High point of the event was the official decoration and presentation of certificate as BoT member and patron of the group to Mr Williams by the director-general of the organisation.
