The Akwa Ibom Government has announced intention to commence the test-run processing production service of thecoconut refinery in the state.
Gov. Udom Emmanuel gave the hints during an interview with journalists after a session of the State Executive Councilmeeting which took place at Government House, Uyo, Wednesday.
Emmanuel who spoke through the state commissioner for information and strategy, Mr. Ini Ememobong, said that the test-run of the factory was part of the preparations to inaugurate the refinery, remarking that the decision was taken after council undertook a general review of projects handled by all the ministries, with proposed timelines for inauguration.
He also mentioned that the State Executive Council considered the test-running of production at the refinery after reviewing updates from the Ministry of Agriculture, adding that the report indicated that the factory was ready to start operations after relevant tests by experts and in consideration of other factors.
The state chief executive officer stated that the Ministry of Youth and Sports has presented reports that the Eket Stadium has reached the nearing stage of completion, expressing hope that the stadium would be set for inauguration soon.
Emmanuel further stated that from briefs given by the Ministry of Health to his administration at the State Executive Council, he was also sure of handing over for public use the General Hospital at Ikot Abasi, recalling that the hospital has been one in the series of general hospitals under reconstruction at the instance of the state government.
