The Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation (AKNC), publishers of the state government-owned Pioneer Newspaper, is set to publish a compendium of high profile sons and daughters of the state, both in Nigeria and in the Diaspora, in the areas of entrepreneurship, professionalism, corporate administration and politics.

The compilation of this unique and landmark compendium, a special project publication of the AKNC, which is now open, has on its advisory team, seasoned media personalities and public administrators in the persons of Anietie Ukpe, Udeme Nnana, Michael Bush, Sunny Antai and Ikpong Essien-Udom.

Open only to sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom State wherever they are located in the world, the publication, according to Mr Umoette Umoette, who is the General Manager of Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation and editor-in- chief of Pioneer Newspa- per, is meant not to only celebrate the success and impact of Akwa Ibom people globally, but to track the human development potentials of Akwa Ibom and her indigenes globally, and to help provide a reference material in this regard.

In his words, “Akwa Ibom State, as we speak, is fast becoming an economic and tourism destination in Nigeria and this would never have been possible if our sons and daughters have not arisen to change the nar- rative of the Akwa Ibom people against what was held in the past in this country, whenever Akwa Ibom State and her people were mentioned.

“There is no gainsaying the fact that Akwa Ibom people are contributing immensely to national and global development beyond the shores of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria, and this is worth capturing and showcasing.

“Very importantly also is that this publication will help challenge and inspire the youths in general to emulate the achievements and successes of the soon
to be listed personalities, and thus cause these youths to aspire to greatness.

Sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom origin are therefore urged to get listed in this milestone pub- lication and have their foot- prints recorded by visiting: www.pioneernewsng.com/
ibomdigest, to make their submission online.

According to Umoette, the publication, on comple- tion, shall be presented to the public in a big media event that will be transmitted live on national television and through online streaming across the globe.
