HIV/AIDS: Akwa Ibom Is Setting Template For Data Processing – Country Director

Akwa Ibom situation room has been identified as the working template for data collection and collation both nationally and internationally. 

This commendation came from the country director for Data for Implementation (Data.FI), Dr Dauda Sulaiman Dauda, when he led the Data. FI team as well as a delegation of Taraba SACA on a courtesy call on the commissioner for health, recently.

Dauda explained that Data. FI was a global project funded by the United State President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS relief and the United State Agency for International Development (USAID) with the goal of accelerating and sustaining access to high quality data to expedite HIV and  Coronavirus  Disease(COVID-19) epidemic control and maintenance. 

He said that the project had been working with the health ministry to strengthen and accelerate data use strategies and feedback through the state’s situation to trigger swift interventions and address possible gaps and held that Akwa Ibom had been a success story. 

The country rector hinted that its was with this excellent outcome in the Akwa Ibom’s situation room that USAID had tasked Data. FI to replicate same in Taraba State.  

He said that the visit was therefore necessary to give the TarabaState Agency for the Control of AIDS (SACA the opportunity to see the Akwa Ibom situation room as well as interact with the relevant stakeholders on how to achieve a similar experience. 

He commended the Akwa Ibom government for standing out and making the entire country proud. 

In his response, the commissioner for health,  Professor Augustine Vincent, had  intimated to his guests that the success stories in the Akwa Ibom health sector was made possible because the Governor Udom  Emmanuel led administration was sincerely committed to providing quality and accessible services to the Akwa Ibom people. 

He appreciated the USAID for their continuous innovative support in health and other sectors. 

To the Taraba team, the commissioner welcomed them and assured them of the willing disposition to partner them to replicate the Akwa Ibom situation room in their state.
