A’Ibom Speaker Applauds Gov. Emmanuel For Donating Police Base, Patrol Vehicles To Police

The speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Elder Aniekan Bassey, has applauded Governor Udom Emmanuel’s resolve to sustain peace in Akwa Ibom State by strengthening security network across the state

The speaker who joined the governor and  his wife, Dr Martha Udom Emmanuel, on Wednesday to commission the Special Protection Unit Base (SPU Base) of The Nigeria Police Force at Awa in Onna Local Government Area, said the governor has shown total commitment to ensure that peace reigns in the state.

The number three citizen who spoke with the press shortly after the event, said the government’s gesture to the police and other security agencies in the state shows his total commitment to make Akwa Ibom  State a safe haven for investors. 

“Let me applaud His Excellency’s effort in transforming the state, mostly in the area of peace and security which is the number one agenda for any government” 

“What the governor has done today is a clear indication that he wants this state to be a safe destination for all investors, because only peace and security will  attract investors to any environment, which I must commend the Governor for that”, he said.

He urged the citizens to join hands with the state governor to sustain the prevailing peace enjoyed throughout the state by supporting his completion and succession agenda.

The commissioning of the police base  which was done by the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman, also witnessed the donation of 15 police vehicles by the Governor to aid the officers and men of the unit in their  service delivery.

Dignitaries who also graced the occasion included, the deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Moses Ekpo, members of the State House of Assembly, their counterparts in the National Assembly, members of the State Executive Council, head of securities in Akwa Ibom State and top political appointees in and outside the state.
