The state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has advised its members to maintain highest decorum while nursing their aspiration for the 2023 elections in the state.
The party according to a release signed by its state chapter chairperson, Elder Aniekan Akpan, calls for both aspirants and their supporters to observe a high level of decency and peaceful outing which the party has been known for in the past years.
“We therefore urge our party men and women to ensure that their actions and those of their supporters stay with the acceptable path of refinement which the PDP continues to live by,” the release reads.
The party also called against political blackmail in the course of working out their ways to the top as aspirants under the umbrella of the PDP.
“Our party believes that our state is in a stage of development where the voice of politically-sponsored blackmail, vitriolic attacks, mudslinging and smear campaigns should not be offered the privilege of mention or a place in our journey towards electing those to lead in 2023.
“It is trite that one of the character checks for anyone seeking to serve the people is the ability to sell the objectives and visions of their aspirations to the delegates and electorate with utmost civility. The ability to do this of course also sends a strong message on the kind of leadership or representation the people should expect,” the statement explains.
