The national coordinator of Maintain Peace Movement (MPM) has appealed to all and sundry in Akwa Ibom to approach the remaining months of this year before 2023 governorship election in particular, in the state with oneness of love, peace and prayer for the will of God to be done.
Mr Emmanuel Enoidem made the appeal in his address during the inauguration of Lagos Chapter of Maintain Peace Movement (MPM) at Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos, last Sunday.
He said the formation of the movement was divinely directed and inauguration of its various chapters timely as it is geared towards a conscious effort of sustaining peace, unity, progress and stability in the State.
While commending the progenitor of the peace movement, Governor Udom Emmanuel, for his contributions to the peace, stability and development of Akwa Ibom, Enoidem charged members of the movement generally to remain focused, be good ambassadors and advocates of peace and keep the interest of it first and foremost within their hearts.
He congratulated the Otuekong Ubong Jackson-led Lagos chapter of the movement and charged them to remain committed, focused, stronger, trusted, excellent and with more capacity.
On the issue of succession plan, the MPM chairman assured the people of the state that the governor will not make any mistake on who will succeed him as he was very careful on the choice of his successor and will speak appropriately.
In his inaugural speech, Lagos chapter coordinator, ESV Otuekong Ubong Jackson, having accepted and agreed to lead the Lagos chapter of the movement, pledged to remain loyal and faithful to the course.
“For the trust and confidence reposed in me to lead the Lagos chapter of MPM, I pledg to work along with my Excos to ensure success and make our state and people proud and to preach the message of peace and sustain it”, Jackson pledged.

Bassey who is also the governor’s representative in Lagos, described MPM as a celebration of loyalty, trust and confidence with which the governor who is an epitome of integrity, man of peace, light and a great achiever is known for, and whose successes could be attributed to his peaceful, humble and lovely nature, reassuring that his succession plan will be supported to a logical conclusion.
He called on the people of the state to continue to work and walk together, love one another, promote and allow peace to continue to reign in the state.
The Lagos chapter of MPM has Otuekong Ubong Jackson as co-ordinator, Mr. Ime Umoh, deputy; Mr. Kingsley Mbre, general secretary; Elder Samuel Bassey, chairman, advisory committee; among others.
