IKOT EKPENE

The dean, Akwa Ibom State College of Commissioners, Dr Glory Edet, has described the 2023 senatorial ambition of Emmanuel Enoidem as one task that must be carried upon by all commissioners from Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district, as their own way of saying “Thank You” to Enoidem for the mentorship and support he has given them not just in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District but in the state and his selfless service to the party.

Dr Edet, who stated this on Tuesday during a consultation visit by the Enoidem Senatorial Campaign Organization, said Enoidem has done more than enough for the senatorial district, the party and the state to merit a stress free PDP senatorial ticket, describing him as one of her mentors who put her through in the rudiments of partisan politics and governance during her early days as a commissioner in the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council.

“Outside Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district, you have always been a major pillar of support to all governors in this state. You made us proud as PDP national legal adviser. We will preach your gospel and take your campaign to the nooks and crannies of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District”, she assured.

Also speaking a long time ally, friend, confidant and commissioner for youth and sports, Sir Monday Uko, described Enoidem as a brother with whom he has a strong bond and so much in common, regretting that he tried unsuccessfully to persuade him not to visit the college for the consultation as it was not necessary in view of the fact that he is part of them as a former colleague and dean of College of Commissioners in the state

According to Uko, Enoidem’s ambition is one that no PDP member in the senatorial district should bother to contest against as his impact in the political life of many within and outside Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District cannot be overemphasized.

“These cabinet members are solidly behind you because you are a very good person who deserves the support and solidarity of all Exco members. Your senatorial aspiration is a battle we must fight and win and I can assure you we will soon leave Uyo to embark on door-to-door campaign. This cabinet is with you and we’ll stand with you because you have supported so many people to become something. God will stand with you”, he declared.

Addressing the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District College of Commissioners, the senatorial hopeful, Emmanuel Enoidem, described Dr Edet as a worthy successor as dean, College of Commissioners, emphasizing that the College of Commissioners is his closest constituency of associates, friends and allies.

“History has brought us together again and I can’t extricate myself from this body. I am here to consult you all and to observe the age-long political tradition of consultation and to formally notify and seek your support for my 2023 Senatorial ambition”, he stated.

Commissioners present during the visit were the commissioner for youth and sports, Sir Monday Uko, commissioner for trade and investment, Prince Akpabio, commissioner for science and technology, Dr Imoh Moffat, commissioner for health, Prof. Augustine Umoh and commissioner for labour and manpower, Pastor Sunny Ibuot.
