RIVERS STATE

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Nwike has played host to a former Sokoto State governor, Senator Aliyu MagatakardaWamakko.

Wamakko, who was hosted at Wike’s country home, is in Rivers State to commission the dualised Ogbunabali Road in Port Harcourt.

The former governor’s visit to the state is coming 24 hours after Wike had invited Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to inaugurate the Orochiri-Worukwo (Waterlines junction) Flyover.

Wike has been meeting with governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after falling out with the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Those from the APC that have visited Wike include Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State; Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State and others.

In a veil attack on the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the inauguration, Wike stated, “If you say Rivers State does not matter, Rivers State will tell you that you don’t also matter at the appropriate time. If you don’t like us, we will not like you. If you like us, we will like you. Nobody will use our votes for nothing. Our votes will matter and Rivers State must benefit from anybody that we are going to support.

“Politics now is no longer just voting for somebody; it is about what you will do for the people of Rivers State.”
