The apex youth socio-cultural organization in Oron Federal Constituency, Essu Nlap Oro has denied speculations and online publications making the rounds alleging its adoption/endorsement of Senator Bassey Albert as its preferred gubernatorial aspirant ahead of the 2023 general elections in Akwa Ibom State.
Following the visit to the group on March 31st, Senator Bassey Albert’s media team have flooded the media with speculations that their principal had been adopted and endorsed as the preferred candidate of the youth group.
But a press release signed by the body’s Secretary, Ulap Ita Ikpe and dated April 21, 2022, stated that , “The attention of Essu Nlap Oro has been drawn to the rumour and an online publication that the organization has adopted/endorsed an aspirant for the forthcoming 2023 gubernatorial election in Akwa Ibom State.
“The organization wishes to state unequivocally that it has not adopted nor endorsed any aspirant(s) for either governorship or any other office(s) for 2023 elections in Akwa Ibom State. The general public is therefore urged to disregard any information in this direction.”
The body which was established by the Ahta Oro in-council, late Odidem Etim Atti Okpo (Ahta Oro IV) and endorsed by the Council of Oro Traditional Rulers (COTR), “…holds its mandate in high esteem and has not deviated therefrom,” it adds.
The statement however stressed that now is the time for electioneering campaigns, thus aspirants are at liberty to consult and seek for support from delegates, groups and organizations, and that Essu Nlap Oro is not an exception.
“Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State and Oro deserve the best, and only the best shall Essu Nlap Oro follow in the interest of peace, development and economic prosperity,” it concluded.
