BENIN CITY

Ahead of 2023 general elections, a non-governmental organization Fostering Achievement of Community Empowerment Initiative (FACE Initiative) in collaboration with National Democratic Institute (NDI) and USAID has inaugurated a Seven-Man Committee of  “Vote No Fight ” in Edo State to recruit volunteers who would spread the message and coordinate local government and ward advocacy campaigns.

Inaugurating the Seven-Man Committee, the programmeofficer of FACE Initiative, Mrs. Bogofanyo Inengibo, charged the committee to commence advocacy and recruit volunteers within the age bracket of 18- 35years.

According to the executive director, Inatimi Peter Odio, volunteers are expected to reside in the LG and wards be non partisan and must be knowledgeable of their terrains.

He said the organization which started the VNF campaign in 2014 had recorded huge success in 2015, 2019 general elections and would want to sustain the success stories in the 2023 election and beyond.

Speaking further, he added that the only way to achieve successful implementation of the VNF campaign is when volunteers are passionate to see a hate free speech  electioneering campaigns and violence free elections.

He however charged the state coordinators to spread the messages as fast as possible to the appropriate quarters.

Responding, Mrs  Uwa Ashetu Edekor assures the management of FACE Initiative that the committee would give its best as long as the enabling working environment is provided.

She however called on all stakeholders to join hands in the campaign of Vote Not Fight as Nigeria prepares for a very remarkable general election.

Mr  Ose Akahon also assures the FACE Initiative coordinators her full commitment to recruit LG  volunteers to join the committee with the VNF campaign.

Present at the meeting were, the Assistant Program Officer of VNF Ayebakino Odio, Human Resources Officer, Mrs. NgonatoMary, the finance officer, Mrs. Olaladiza Princess.
