The state deputy governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, has said that Pastor Umo Eno has the capacity to deliver as the governor as the Maintain Peace Movement (MPM), drums support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) sole aspirant for the governorship election in 2023.
The deputy governor stated this when the Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency stakeholders and all 270 delegates recently endorsed Pastor Eno at the Independent Hall, Abak, as the successor to Governor Udom Emmanuel and pledged to actualized his governorship aspiration in next year’s election in the state.
He told the Abak/ Etim Ekpo/ Ika Federal Constituency that the emergence of Pastor Eno, was arrived at after a thorough search from the array of qualified aspirants from Uyo Senatorial District , stressing that apart from mere qualification, the commissioner for land and water resources, has a distinctive and sound leadership disposition that marked him out from the rest.
The deputy explained that apart from qualifying as a strong member of the party, Pastor Eno comes from Uyo Senatorial District, where the governorship position had been zoned to and that the decision of the constituency to endorse and support his aspiration, was a step in the right direction.
He described Pastor Umo Eno as a peg in the completion agenda of the Governor Udom Emmanuel administration and urged his constituent to rally round the governor to ensure that the choice of the Nsit Ubium born entrepreneur, was actualized.
Mr Ekpo said as a member of the State Executive Council, the commissioner for lands and water resources had demonstrated high level of efficiency and ability to deliver on any task assigned to him by government.
Moving motion for the endorsement and adoption of the governor hopeful, the member representing Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency, Mr Aniekan Umanah, stated that Akwa Ibom leaders who were desirous of ensuring the success of the completion agenda of Governor Udom Emmnanel, had on January 30, stood by him to unveil the preferred successor for the position of the governor in 2023.
The Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal lawmaker opined that the commissioner for lands and water resources, Pastor Eno was accepted, adopted and endorsed by the stakeholders and delegates of the constituency following his entrepreneurial disposition and track record of concrete and evidence based personal achievements, particularly in the hospitality, oil and gas industry as well as property, real estate development within the Royalty Group and its subsidiaries have provided jobs for over 1,000 Akwa Ibom people for over two decades.
Aniekan Umanah expressed that Umo Eno as a great labourer in the vineyard of God with a pastoral cap and as an epitome of humility, team player, great family man, very detailed and unassuming, was the only option for the maintenance of peace already enjoyed in the state.
Umanah whose motion was seconded by the member representing Etim Ekpo/Ika State Constituency at the National Assembly, Mr Mfon Idung, noted that Pastor Umo Eno’s forayinto the public space as chairman of the state tourism board, executive director of agric investment and commissioner for lands and water resources, combined to produce quality, productive and measurable results for the people of Akwa Ibom State.
The national chairman of Maintain Peace Movement, Mr Emmanuel Enoidem, said that the emergence of Umo Eno had brought peace to the state, adding that no one had accused Eno of either owing anyone as a business man, mismanaging of public funds since his emergence as Governor Udom Emmanuel’s preferred aspirant for the Hilton mansion top job.
The Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District leading aspirant, who charged the entire stakeholders and delegates of the federal constituency to support the path ot peace in the state, added that Pastor Umo Eno is a man blessed and chosen by God.
Mr Uwemedimoh Nwoko, SAN who spoke on behalf of Ika stakeholders and delegates, managing director, Akwa Ibom Property and Investment Company (APICO), Mr Patrick Udomfang, who spoke on behalf of Abak stakeholders, the former chairman of Ika, Lady Inibege Silas who spoke on behalf of the federal constituency women and Mr. Peter Eyo who spoke on behalf of the federal constituency youth, all endorsed Pastor Umo Eno as the sole aspirant of the party for the position of governor come 2023.
