Gov Udom Emmanuel’s endorsement of his commissioner for lands and water resources, Pastor Umo Eno, as his preferred aspirant to succeed him in 2023 has continued to attract positive commendations and backing.

The latest is from stakeholders of urban ward one in Ukanafun Local Government Area, who have unanimously pledged continued support to the governor’s completion agenda and the choice of Pastor Eno for the plum job.

Rising from an enlarged stakeholders meeting of the ward convened by the commissioner one, Local Government Service Commission, Obong Saturday Akpan, at his countryhome at Ikot Akpa Nkuk in Ukanafun, the people acknowledged all inclusive leadership approach of the governor especially through appointment of their kinsman, Obong Saturday Akpan as commissioner one, Local Government Service Commission.

Addressing the gathering, Akpan who doubles as the political leader of Ukanafun urban ward one formally informed his kinsmen of his appointment by the governor and implored them to continue to support the state chief executive whom he said has demonstrated capacity and exemplary leadership in the state.

The immediate past state organising secretary of PDP maintained that the people will rally support for Eno in next year’s gubernatorial race for sustained peace, unity and development.

Akpan, who is also the leader, Congress of former State Legislators, Akwa Ibom, advised the party ward executives to intensify campaign on ongoing e-registration of the party to boost numerical strength of members even as he urged them to remain united to promote harmony, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

Other stakeholders who spoke the meeting included theimmediate past chairman of the  local government, Prince Uko Idiong, the councillor for Ukanafun Urban Ward One, Mr Okpongette Okorie, ward chairman, Mr Promise Akpan, Chief Johnson Ebong, Chief Hezekiah Ekanem, Mr Andy Ibanga, Pastor Victoria Ukoh, among others.

They spoke glowingly on the effective leadership of the ward leader, Akpan, the political leader of Ukanafun, Obong Eno Akpan, the PDP state chairman, Elder Aniekan Akpan, the member for Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives,  Mr Unyime Idem, and the Ukanafun State lawmaker, Dr Charity Ido.

In a motion by Chief Hezekiah Ekanem, seconded by Mr Okpongette Okorie, the Ukanafun Urban Ward One stakeholders passed a vote of confidence on them as well as pledged their unflinching loyalty and support for them to succeed.

At the stakeholders’ converge, some indigenes of the ward including Pastor Ubong Odudu Jonah, a former councillor, Mr Essang Essien and wife, among others made a u-turn to PDP family and promised to work for the success of the party.

They were received by the leader of the Ward, Obong Saturday Akpan and handed over to the ward chairman, Mr Promise Akpan on behalf of the party.

Pastor Ubong Jonah thanked the people for welcoming him to the umbrella fold and spoke well of Eno, whom, he described, as a father and encouraged all to support him to succeed.

Jonah said with Eno in the saddle, as governor, a lot of goodies will come to the ward and Ukanafun at large.

The event was attended by elders, women and youths across the ward.
