LAGOS

Femi Gbajabiamila says the 9th National Assembly’s target is to empower youths and will do everything to support them.

Gbajabiamila made the statement in Lagos while speaking at the empowerment programme organised for the people of Surulere 1 Federal Constituency.

No less than 5,000 constituents benefitted from the empowerment programme with 351 Students of tertiary institutions obtaining educational grants between N20,000 and N80,000.

Laptops were also distributed to 1,020 teachers in the constituency, while 1,596 small business owners received cash grants of between N50,000 and N150,000.

No less than 120 cars were donated to residents of the area, while the police stations, the University Teaching Hospital of Lagos and the community hospitals of Surulere received patrol cars and ambulances.

The speaker said that the country is blessed with young people who have great potential.

He promised that the 9th National Assembly would do its best to create the right environment for them to thrive.

“Nigeria is blessed with so much young potential, young men and women who have the ability, the knowledge, the know-how, the drive, the sincerity of purpose but sadly not yet endowed to thrive.

“Today I promise you and I give you my solemn word that those of us in the 9th Assembly will continue to do what we can, whenever, wherever, as we can to make sure that these boys and girls, whom we call the elders tomorrow, in fact, they are given a seat at the table and maybe one day, they sit at the head of the table,” he said.

The speaker also said that the 9th Assembly is passionate about the country’s development and will continue to work hard for the nation’s progress.

The speaker said that the empowerment programme was in gratitude for the constant support given to his electoral promise to impact the people of the area.
