IKOT EKPENE
The Catholic Bishop of Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, has been installed as the second chancellor of Ritman University, Ikot Ekpene.
His Lordship, Most Rev. Camillus Umoh, who was installed at the 2nd and 3rd convocation ceremony of the institution, replaces Senator Godswill Akpabio.
At the event which witnessed the graduation of 194 students, also featured the conferment of honorary doctorate degree causaon Conflict Resolution on Chief Ateke Tom of Okrika, Rivers State.
Performing the installation, the chairman, Board of Trustee (BOT), Senator Effiong Bob, commended Senator Godswill Akpabio, for serving with passion as the first chancellor of the institution, adding that his passion and unflinching support to Ritman University was enormous.
He noted that the choice of His Lordship, Bishop Camillus Umoh as the second chancellor of the institution was based on his track-record as a man that had combined his calling as the priest of the Catholic Church and a lecturer at the Catholic Institute of West Africa, Port Harcourt.
Senator Bob, said Bishop Umoh was well known in Nigeria, having served as the immediate-past secretary- general of Nigerian Conference of Catholic Bishop, Pope assignment as a Parchial Vicar in Germany, an appointed member of Synod in the family and a cerebral academician.
Conferring the doctorate degree causa on Conflict Resolution on Chief Ateke Tom, the management of the institution, said Chief Tom, was selected due to the role he played to forced the Federal Government to set up the amnesty programme by the President Umaru Musa Yar’ dua’s administration.
