The state commissioner for health has called on heads of medical facilities to protect and project the dignity of national symbols at their facilities.
Professor Augustine Vincent Umoh said this during an on-the-spot visit to Ekpene Obo Cottage Hospital at Esit Eket recently, where he had noticed that the Nigerian Flag did not reflect the dignity of the nationhood.
Umoh held that it was unpatriotic on the part of citizens to desecrate any of the national symbols making particular reference to the flags that were displayed in public premises.
Despite his displeasure with the state of the flag, the commissioner commended the medical supritendent of EkpeneObo Cottage Hospital for maintaining a clean hospital environment.
He also applauded the hospital management for their prudence in efficient application of the drug revolving fund incentives given to them.
The commissioner tasked the medical supritendent to improve his services to enhance the patients flow in the hospital.
In his company were the permanent secretary, Dr Patrick Essiet, and heads of directorates of the ministry.
