EKET
It was a memorable family and extended family get-together, over the weekend for members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Urban 4 in Eket Local Government Area as the ward chairman, Pastor Akpadia Udoakagha, convoked a Thanksgiving Celebration for Pastor Umoh Eno, Akwa Ibom State PDP Governorship candidate and other candidates of the party in the just concluded party primaries.
The gathering was unique, being the first Ward meeting,Udoakagha has converged since inception as Ward chairman of both Eket Urban 4 of INEC as well as Eket Urban 3 of AKISIEC.
In his exhortation taken from Psalms 133:1-3, the Ward chairman called on members of the party and citizens of Akwa Ibom to maintain the existing peace established by GovUdom Emmanuel, especially, ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
With peace and oneness of purpose, we can achieve whatever goals that we set to achieve. The party primaries is now behind us, let us come together and ensure the victory of our gubernatorial candidate, Pastor Umo Eno and other candidates of our party in the general elections, he appealed, adding thatpeace is cheaper than acquiring war arsenals.
Udoakagha, who is the current Eket Chapter coordinator of Proactive Succession Support Group For Umo Eno, described the governorship candidate as Gods gift for the people of the state and Eket in particular as he has lived with us for over two decades now and has become a part of us.”
He admonished Nigerians of voting age to go out and register for their voter cards as the card remains the only legal electoral instrument to elect the President, governors and representatives of their choice at federal and state levels.
Thank God, some members of the Press are here. Let me use this opportunity in calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to please extend the deadline for the registration of voters, at least for another two months, owing to the number of persons who are yet to register.
Thousands of citizens will be disenfranchised if the duration is not extended, while I appeal that the exercise should be taken to the ward levels once again for the sake of proximity and accessibility,” he said.
He called on INEC to clarify the insinuations ongoing in the social media that voter cards obtained in 2010 are not valid for the 2023 general elections.
Such clarification will give some of us that obtained our voter cards in 2010, a true position of things regarding the on-going exercise,” he appealed.
