NGO Undertakes Payment Of Entrance Examination Fees To Pupils, Awards Scholarships

A non-governmental organization, Our Right as Children Foundation (ORAC) has undertaken the payment of  entrance fees to ten  primary school pupils in Utine Eyekung in Okobo local government, even as they promised to sponsor their secondary education.

The president of ORAC, Comrd Franklin Madiesm, disclosed this during the event which took place recently  at Government Primary School, Utine Eyekung in Okobo local government.

 While congratulating the beneficiaries of the gesture, Madiesm said that ORAC primary objectives is focused on philanthropy and social well-being of every Nigerian Child, which include educational, religious or other activities that  serve the public interest or common good.

 He  charged the primary school teachers to partake in their obligation to train children for the betterment of our society adding that children are the leaders of tomorrow, hence the need to for them to be well disciplined, so as to achieve a crime free society.

 The president who observed that Education is a key to rapid development in the community, made case  for proper training and enlightenment of  our children.

The grand patron of Okobo Students, Mr Victor Paul Unoh, expressed  gratitude to ORAC and also pledged  his support in ensuring that laudable life touching programs are sustained to enhance educational development and uplift the  less privileged in the rural communities.

He announced that his principal, Rt. Hon. Princess Felicia Bassey who is the Deputy Speaker in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has over 45 Okobo students on her scholarship scheme studying in higher institutions across the country, with a promise to train them to obtain higher standard of education and become self-reliant. 

Also speaking, comrade Godwin Ekenene, urged the pupils to take their studies serious to achieve their goal in future. 

Ekenene said “most of us here attended Government Primary Schools and we are all doing well, even others who obtain their primary education in private school cannot compete with us anywhere we find ourselves. 

Present at the event were: the President of Akwa Ibom Gospel Ministers Network In Diaspora (AKGOMIND), His Lordship Arch Bishop (Dr) David Okponoesip, the Head Mistress, Mrs. Offiong Okon; PTA Vice Chairman, Mr. Asuquo Ibia, Village Head of Utine Eyoekung, Chief Oron Esin, Mr. Godwin Ekenene, National President of Atak Oro Students Forum Worldwide, Comrade Edet Bassey, among others.
