NECO Records Decline In Malpractice

The registrar, National Examinations Council (NECO), Prof. Dantani Wushishi, has said the council recorded a decline in malpractice in the 2021 external senior school certificate examinations as against other years.

The registrar who stated this while announcing the release of the results in Minna, said the decline in malpractice during the examination was appreciable.

“In the area of malpractices, 4,454 were caught as against 6,465 in year 2020, which showed appreciable decline in the number of malpractices cases”

He also said that part of the measures put in place to cub malpractice includes punishment for supervisors who supervised poorly, adding that four were blacklisted.

“Part of the measures adopted towards tackling malpractices is that anybody involved gets punished. Four supervisors, two from Niger and Borno, and two from Delta states were blacklisted due to poor supervision.

Dantani gave the number of candidates that registered for the examinations as 47,916, adding that the number of candidates who got five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics, was 29,342, representing 62.59 per cent.

He also said that the number of candidates that wrote English Language was 45,821, out of which 36,116 representing 78.82 per cent made credit and above.

He further stated that 45, 756 sat for Mathematics, out of which 35,706 representing 78.04 per cent made credit and above.
