The member representing Etinan/ Nsit lbom/ Nsit UbiumFederal Constituency, Mr Onofiok Luke, has formally declared his intention to run as governor of Akwa Ibom State in the 2023 elections.
Luke made the declaration Wednesday at the Ibom Hall Grounds, Uyo, in an event which witnessed a throng of supporters who trooped into the venue to show solidarity with his amazing project.
At the declaration which was also used to mark his 44th Birthday, Luke unveiled his social contract with the people of Akwa Ibom State, saying he was fully prepared to handle the affairs of the state when given the mandate.
The governorship aspirant under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stated that he was ready to reposition Akwa Ibom for greater prosperity under the theme, “Building Together, Growing Together.”
The National Assembly member maintained that he would focus more on human capacity building where youth, women, elders, the less-privileged and the entirety of Akwa Ibom people would be empowered to be self-reliant.
Luke who chairs the House Committee on Judiciary in the House of Representatives said he had prepared over 10 years ago to govern Akwa Ibom, stressing that he would reinvent the economy to restore hope, earn trust of the masses and support Medium and Small Scale Enterprise.
He listed the pillars of governance to include: food sufficiency and agricultural development, education, Health care and technology development.
Other pillars of governance Luke listed include: entrepreneurial and industrial development, tourism, sports and entertainment, youth, women and social inclusion, security, environment and infrastructure as well as good governance and administration.
Luke promised Akwa lbom people agro-based industries and growth in internally generated revenue without bringing untold hardship to the citizens.
The director general of Amazing Grace Campaign Organization, Imo Udo, had described Onofiok Luke as an author of a new paradigm in the development history of Akwa lbom State who would bring generational governance.
The senior pastor of Full Life Christian Centre, Rev Ntia Ntia, in an exhortation, spoke about thanksgiving, saying that thanksgiving brings generational protection, promotion and lasting influence and commended Luke for thanking God for the bountiful blessings upon his life.
The event also featured the forty fourth birthday and thanksgiving of the governorship hopeful.
