“Ikono and Ini Local Government Area’s has been relegated to the background in development even with her myriads and abundant of natural resources. Government cannot do everything for her citizenry, it’s our responsibility as individuals from all walks of life to start developing our local communities for economic development to thrive with human capacity development, these and many more if done will revive the economic future of her people”.
These were the words of Barr. King Ita Ukpabio, a Ghana Based Entrepreneur and oil magnet on Saturday during the Ikono/Ini Annual Economic Symposium 2022 and Induction of deserving Personalities into the Hall of Fame with the Theme; Reviving the Rural Economy For Sustainable Development With Focus On Exploring the Economic Potentials and Possibilities in Ikono/Ini held at Ikono Local Government Council Secretariat, Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, Ikono Local Government Area and organized by Ikono/Ini Media Professionals.
Barr. King Ita Ukpabio, a Frontline Aspirant in the upcoming Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency election decried the economic downturn of the Federal Constituency stressing that it’s the unability of the people most especially the leaders and stakeholders to put into use effectively the myriads and abundant natural resources giving to the two sisters Local Government by God.
Barr. Ukpabio stated that the economic future of the Federal Constituency will continue to remain stagnant if the leaders and every concern cum patriotic sons and daughters of Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency does not wake up, speak in one voice and in one accord to arrest the economic misfortunes by massively investing on individuals, youths, women and even the children in the two Local Government Area’s for the betterment of the people.
He disclosed that he has already mapped out plans and modalities to facilitate, build and donate a state of the art Information Communication Technology (ICT) Training Center for the two sisters Local Government Area, said will enhance a sustainable economic development in capacity building, promote technology based programmes both in soft and hardware development, internet accessment needed in the 21st century.
He noted that the center will be dedicated to the good people of Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency which will also accommodate people from other Local Government Area’s in the state, said ICT is universally acknowledged as an important catalyst for social transformation and national progress which is also credited with ushering in what many have labeled the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
He added that the introduction of ICT to Ikono/Ini will aid accelerate the economic development nationally since it is a virile source of national income for all nations that have fully embraced its usefulness positioned to build a more socially sustainable and economic viable future for Ikono/Ini people.
“Creating these economic and social benefits will require not only large investments and commitment from different stakeholders and spirited individuals but will also change the already existing regulatory framework, compromises between government and industries, and build a strong public engagement to the people.
“Investing in ICT is a key driver to economic development for emerging and developed markets alike within and outside the social, political, cultural and economic ecosystem”. He posited.
The Ghana Based Oil magnet and a Frontline Aspirant in Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency commended the gigantic strides recorded by Governor Udom Emmanuel in different sections of the economy including, agriculture, aviation, infrastructural development, education, Healthcare reform and most importantly opening the three major gateways of sea, land and water to drive in investments into the state while reiterating his unflinching and unalloyed support for the administration, completion agenda as well as his succession plan.
The event witnessed prominent and outstanding sons and daughters of Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency from all walks of life and also featured Induction of Barr. King Ita Ukpabio and other Deserving Personalities into the Hall of Fame.
