Gunmen Murder Pipeline Surveillance Worker InBayelsa

A three-member gang suspected to be assassins have attacked and killed an official of an indigenous pipeline surveillance firm identified as Mr Indukakpo Ogede in Bayelsa State.

It was gathered that Ogede’s assailants shot him twice in a hotel around Tamic Road in the Okutukutu area of Yenagoaon Sunday.

They were said to have entered the hotel and paid for three rooms where they lurked around to strike their target.

According to sources, after they lodged, they went to the bar of the hotel and drank beer while waiting for their victim, who had gone out for an assignment, to return.

Soon after he returned at about 7.45pm, the gunmen rushed towards him, shot him twice in his chest and lower abdomen, leaving him for dead.

Ogede, who hailed from Igbomotoru in the Southern IjawLocal Government Area of the state, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead.

His corpse had been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre in the state capital.

The spokesman for the state police command, AsinimButswat, confirmed the incident when contacted.

He said the command had commenced an investigation into the murder of the deceased.
