…As College of Boards, Commissions, adopts Umo Eno as PDP sole guber candidate
Few hours after the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council members adopted the Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, PASTOR Umo Eno as their sole candidate in the 2023 Governorship race, Chairmen of Boards, Commissions and Parastatals where have also endorsed the aspiration of the commissioner.
Speaking during consultation visit to College, the Director General, Ambassador Assam Assam, SAN, described the Board Chairmen as those responsible for delivering on the policies of state, hence their important reverencing as critical stakeholders in the government and Akwa Ibom project.
He paid glowing tribute to Pastor Umo Eno, whom he said left his career in Union Bank, to set up businesses to employ, empower and challenge Akwa Ibom people to embrace entrepreneurship at a time it was less fashionable.
He assured the Board Chairmen that if given the chance, the steam to diversify the economy of Akwa Ibom shall be sustained.
Also speaking, the National Chairman of Maintain Peace Movement, MPM, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, reminded the College that Umo Eno shall deepen the economic frontiers of the State in agriculture, tourism, commerce and attract more foreign direct investments to Akwa Ibom.
Also speaking, MPM National Secretary, Prince Enobong Uwah, said he was optimistic that members of the forum will endorse Pastor Umo Eno who is one of their own as the next Governor of Akwa Ibom.
Assessing the gathering, the Governorship hopeful, Pastor Umo Eno, said having been multitasked in the past two years as Commissioner, Chairman of Ibom Fadama Microfinance Bank which is what the private sector does in preparing him for the achievements recorded so far.
He assured his colleagues that having been picked to succeed the Governor, he considered himself as “the high prince picked among the nobles”, soliciting their support as any time he is given a chance at public service, he has always acquitted himself above expectations in areas of hospitality and tourism, Church planting, expansion and in entrepreneurship.
Speaking on his antecedents, Pastor Eno said having worked in Union Bank and rose to managerial positions and in Norman Holdings, he has the experience to deliver.
“Give me a chance. Place a bet on me and you’ll have your money back with interest”, he assured.
Responding, the Chairman, AKIRS Board, Mr Okon Okon, and Chairman, Forum of Boards and Commissions, said the forum with over 40 Chairmen and 400 members spread across the various wards and local government areas will canvass support for the realization of Umo Eno governorship bid both as professionals, business moguls and politicians, promising to leave no stone unturned towards the realization of set goals and objectives.
Chairmen of boards who spoke in affirmative on behalf of other colleagues where Ini Akpabio, Prince Ikim, Chief Sunny Udom while Rt Hon Monday Eyo moved a motion for the endorsement and adoption of Pastor Umo Eno as their candidate for the 2023 general election, a motion which was seconded by Rt Hon Ekaette Ebong Okon.
