The Akwa Ibom governor has called for the expression of boundless cultural ties and creativity among ethnic groups in the country.
Mr Udom Emmanuel, accompanied by his wife, Martha and members of the state executive council, made me remarks during the solemnization of Holy matrimony between Eyakenoabasi, daughter of Senator Effiong Bob and Oluwafemi Hassan, from the South West Nigeria, which took place at God’s Ambassadors Outreach, Uyo, Saturday.
The governor said that it was to the national delight that the people of the South West have taken the choice of sealing cultural ties with the people of Akwa Ibom through marriages, remarking that through marriages there are assurances that the creative disposition of Akwa Ibom has been given additional vent for exposure in the country.
He stated that marriages are new phases of life to consolidate adulthood and establish cultural relationships between families and ethnic groups, advising couples, families and ethnic groups to be conscious of the divine directives guiding the existence of happiness among in-laws, across the different cultures of the country.
Emmanuel prayed for the people of Akwa Ibom to continue on the social foundations of identifying with friends through the virtues of love and patience, acknowledging that marriages are avenues of human collaborations, particularly in the social and cultural growth of states.
He congratulated the couple for taking the lifetime decision of entering into marriage for the extension of love and unity in the country, advising them to protect the legacies of friendship, brotherhood and traits of life set by their parents and guardians to advance the interest of mankind in the society.
Bob expressed joy at the esteemed presence of Emmanuel and wife as well as friends and families across board to the marriage of his daughter, Eyakenoabasi, saying it signified the extent of love for his immediate and extended family, while praying for increase, peace and togetherness for other families in the state.
The senior pastor, Insight Bible Church, Dr. Sylvanus Ukafia, in an exhortation taken from Ephesians 5: 21- 25, enjoined the couple to love themselves by scriptural directives, adding that the groom is expected to provide leadership while the bride has the obligations of submission.
