LONDON

Gov Udom Emmanuel has continued to tower high amongst his contemporaries with the numerous dividends of good governance provided to the people of Akwa Ibom, such as Ibom Air in the aviation sector.

The permanent secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Akparawa James Edet, made this known recently in the United Kingdom in his contributions during the lecture on “Media Relations and Effective PR Campaign,” handled by a Brand Manager and Media Expert, Diana Young at the London School of Public Relations.

Edet, who was the leader of the Akwa Ibom team to the Public Relations institution, said the success of the PR campaign of Akwa Ibom State Government in attracting investors to the state is dependent upon the numerous development projects embarked by Governor Emmanuel for the people of the state in such sectors like Aviation, Industrialisation, Agriculture, Entrepreneurial Development and Human Capacity Building, among others.

He said while state governments in Nigeria may not necessarily be in competition with each other as it is applicable in corporate business organisations, they can outshine each other through their dividends of good governance to the people, which is a major index in the effectiveness of their Public Relations campaigns towards wooing investors and tourists to their different domains.

Edet, who was buttressing a point in the area of competition in the global market place, emphasised that while state governments may not be in cut throat competition amongthemselves, they can without prejudices outshine each other with a showcase of enduring legacies geared towards the development of their different states for the benefits of the citizenry.

While speaking on the topic, “Evolve to compete in the market place and reach your target audience,” the permanent secretary said state governments in Nigeria have continued to tailor their programmes in line with their core values, mission and vision, reiterating that the outcomes as showcased in their projects execution may look competitive as some actually outshine the others.

He mentioned the Ibom Air of the Aviation industry of the Governor Udom Emmanuel-led government, for instance, which has towered Akwa Ibom high above her contemporaries as a good PR campaign project of the Akwa Ibom State Government, which has received widespread commendation and applause.

The permanent secretary further stated that the Akwa Ibom government is committed to fulfilling the overall goal of the administration as enshrined in the Completion Agenda, while also pushing on the Dakkada philosophy, which is a clarion call for the citizenry to rise up to the Faith of Greatness by engaging in meaningful ventures and entrepreneurial development.

While enlisting other sectors with commendable strides by Governor Emmanuel, Edet emphasised that it is often not difficult to market a good product because it markets itself.
