The Akwa Ibom governor has reiterated his commitment to provide the needed quantum leap in the education sector if the state.

Mr Udom Emmanuel stated this in his message to the people of Ini and Ikono during a grand reception for the vice chancellor of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), Professor Nyaudo Ndaeyo, at Odoro Ikpe, headquarters of Ini Local Government Area, weekend.

The event was organised by Ini/Ikono Local Government Areas in partnership with Ini/Ikono Elders and Akwa Mboho Ndito Ikono Ndo Ini.

Emmanuel, represented by the secretary to the state government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, assured the vice chancellor that his government would continue to invest more in education to produce more like him in the state.

He said having more of the likes of Ndaeyo would be a blessing for this generation and the ones yet unborn.

The governor eulogised Ndaeyo for being the pride of academic excellence to the people of Ini, the state and Nigeria at large.

“The success recorded by Professor Nyaudo Ndaeyo should inspire the youths of this area and imbue in them the Dakkada spirit,” he added.

The commissioner for agriculture, who is also the dean of commissioners and special advisers, Dr Glory Edet, lauded the governor for being a leader who appreciates hard work and success, adding that the people of Ini/Ikono and the entire Akwa Ibom were proud of him.

Edet, while congratulating Ndaeyo on his elevation to the office of the vice chancellor of UNIUYO, noted that the people of Ini were proud of him.

“My Professor, when you were the Head of Department of Crop Science, you did well and when God promoted you to the dean of Faculty of Agriculture, you made us proud.

“As the deputy VC, you made us smile. Today, as the vice chancellor, you have done well and we give God the glory,”she said.

The commissioner appreciated the entire elders of Ini/Ikono and also eulogised the book review committee, ably led by Professor Ini Udoka, for reminding Akwa Ibom people that Ikono was indeed the Cradle of Ibibio Nation.

She charged the participants to always celebrate the promotion of one another as it attracts good things from God.

Ndaeyo, while thanking the governor for honouring him during his grand reception, extolled the organisers of the event for finding it thoughtful to celebrate his elevation.

He commended the commissioner for agriculture for being exceptional in the quality of service she renders in the state executive council and promised the participants that he woulddischarge the responsibilities accrued to his office with passion and commitment.

Goodwill messages were received from the chancellor of Ibom Patriots, Obong Bassey Inuaeyen; Sir Sunday U. Akpan; and the commissioner for health, Professor Augustine Umoh, ors.
