…Assures Of Blossoming Retirement Welfare Package For Judges

The Akwa Ibom government has guaranteed blossoming welfare package for judges on retirement from the service of the state.
Gov. Udom Emmanuel gave the hints during the flag-off of the construction of the Emily Haven residential estate for senior state and federal government officials, which took place at Ifa Ikot Okpon, Uyo, Tuesday.
Emmanuel, who was accompanied by his deputy, Mr. Moses Ekpo, said the initiative for the allocation of a 15 hectares one stop estate for self building by the allotees was borne out of the cooperation exhibited by judges and other senior government officials in the success story of Akwa Ibom, adding that the self construction would receive the attention of Akwa Ibom government through grant, support or financial intervention.
He stated that the assessment of his administration has shown that individuals at the helm of affairs in each of the arms of government have served above personal interest based on the oath of office, adding that the arms of government are effectively working together.
Emmanuel remarked that the manner which his administration adopted in raising the standard of accommodation for the traditional institutions would be applied in living up to expectations of judges, maintaining that the self choice of styles for construction was to ensure taste and future needs of the judges and other senior government officials of the state.
He appreciated the Ministry of Lands and Water Resources for taking the approach of allowing the allotees opportunities of making choices on the styles of buildings, assuring that his administration would also guarantee the availability of facilities ranging from electricity supply, appropriate security and drainage, while the design for internal roads would be undertaken speedily.
The commissioner for lands and water resources, Pastor Umoh Eno, said that the land-mass was acquired since 1991 by the state government, explaining that the estate sits on 15 hectares of land, divided into 100 plots and allocated to state and federal court judges and other senior officials of government.
The state chief judge, Justice Ekaette Obot, remarked that the beneficiaries appreciate Emmanuel for initiating a residential estate for judges, lauding the people-oriented leadership of the state.
The chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Dr Uwemedimo Udo and the paramount ruler of Uyo, Edidem Sylvanus Okon, separately commended Emmanuel for the steady development of various communities in the local government area, stressing that the Emmanuel administration has made available befitting structures suiting the status of the state capital.
