Flamingoes Leave Turkey For India Ahead FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria’s U17 Women’s team, Flamingoes left Kocaeli, Turkey yesterday for India to continue preparations before their first match next at 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup next Tuesday, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

The Flamingoes have their ten-day camping wrapped up on Wednesday and would travel to India for the World Cup finals.

“About yesterday’s evening, our Flamingos had the last training of its 10-day camp in Kocaeli, Turkey before heading to India later today.” The team wrote on Super Falcons Twitter handle.

The Nigerians will have to bring all they have garnered in training to bear when they face Germany on Tuesday October 11, 2022 in their first group game. Earlier before then, Chile will trade tackles with New Zealand in the tournament opener while North Africans, Morocco take on Brazil.

The 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be the 7th edition of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, the biennial international women’s youth football championship contested by the under-17 national teams of the member associations of FIFA, since its inception in 2008. The tournament will be hosted by India, which would have hosted the 2020 edition before it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is the second time that India hosts a FIFA tournament after the men’s 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, and the first time that India hosts a FIFA women’s football tournament.

The tournament will commence on 11th to 30th October where 16 countries from six continents will slug it out for one trophy.

Morocco and Tanzania, along with hosts India, make their debuts.

Spain are the defending champions, having won their first title in 2018.
