Ex-Militant Forum, Akwa Ibom State, has condemned in strong terms the one-month ultimatum issued by a militant group to Governor Udom Emmanuel to rescind his choice of Pastor Umoh Eno as his preferred aspirant.

In a release signed by General Kingsley Umoh Bassey, aka 007, chairman and Comrade Godwin Paul, state secretary, the group said that “no such group as Unyekisong Akwa Ibom exist in the State” and that since 2009 when amnesty programme was introduced for militants to surrender their arms, the ex-agitators in the Niger Delta have been working for peace in the region.

“We want to believe that the release issued by the so-called Unyekisong Akwa Ibom, a militant group, is a decor from aggrieved politicians who are not happy with the choice of Umoh Eno as the preferred successor of Governor Udom Emmanuel. No such group as Unyekisong Akwa Ibom existsin our dear State”, the release stated.

The ex-agitators called on the state governor to ignore such an empty threat and concentrate with his completion agenda and succession plan which is for the benefit of the state.

“We are calling on our dear governor to ignore such an empty threat. We pledge our unalloyed support to the maintenance of peace in Akwa Ibom State as initiated by His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel.

“We will resist any attempt to drag the State back to the gory days of bloodbath and will ensure that we uncover all elements and agents working against the peace and development of the State”, the ex-militant said.

The release also called on citizens and residents of the state not to panic by such an ultimatum issued to the governor, describing it as an insult to the governor and peace loving people of the state.

Recall that a release published by the Daily Sun Newspaper of Thursday, February 10, 2022, a militant group going by the name Unyekisong Akwa Ibom issued a one month ultimatum to the state governor asking him to rescind his choice of Umoh Eno as his preferred aspirant.

In the said release signed by one General Ekpo Ekpo, Commander Akan Bassey and Commander Sampson Umana, the militant group said that they will cause panic in the state after the expiration of their ultimatum
