The leadership of the Edo State House of Assembly has nominated the immediate-past chairman of the House commission, Mr Raphael Okhani, as member of the newly inaugurated commission.

The speaker of the House, Mr Marcus Onobun, released the names of the newly constituted members of the Edo State House of Assembly Commission during plenary recently.

According to the speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Onobun, the constitution of the commission followed the expiration of the tenure of the former members.

Ironically, the immediate-past chairman of the Assembly Service Commission, Okhani, who is expected to hand over baton to the chairman of the newly inaugurated commission was, however, made a member of the new body.

Okhani from Etsako West Local Government Area, is a known lackey of the Edo State deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu.

The renomination of Okhani from chairman of the commission to a member came as a shock to many, especially from Etsako West LGA who considered it as another Shaibu domineering attitude of sidelining of other parts of Etsako.

The new commission has Mackor Momodu as chairman, Raphael Okhani, Osunbor Osadebamwen, Inuu Tunji, Ijiekhuemhen Raphael, Matthew Ikhide and Ehis Pnaburekhalen as members.

The 7-man member’s body has five years tenure.
