Elders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Eket Senatorial District have donated a whopping 12 million naira to the Pastor Umoh Eno Campaign Organization to facilitate his 2023 governorship ambition
Umo Eno’s governorship ambition equally receives an additional boost following the formal endorsement and adoption of the governorship hopeful by the elders as their sole candidate.
The decision of the senatorial district was sealed last Friday at the residence of their political leader, Chief Nduese Essien,during a consultation visit to the elders and stakeholders of the senatorial district by Pastor Umo Eno’s campaign team.
Accompanied by the leadership of the Maintain Peace Movement and PDP, the team formally intimated to the PDP stakeholders of the aspirant’s decision to contest the governorship seat in 2023.
In a motion moved by the deputy speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Princess Felicia Bassey and seconded by a former member of the House of Representatives, MrBassey Dan Abia (Jnr), the elders resolved to adopt and mobilize support for the aspiration of Pastor Umo Eno.
In his remarks, the leader of Eket Senatorial District, Chief. Nduese Essien, said the senatorial district was pleased with the choice of Pastor Umo Eno and would work assiduously to ensure his victory both at the party primaries and at the general elections.
He announced a donation of 12 million from each of the 12 local government areas in the senatorial district in support of his electioneering campaign.
” Umo Eno is not a new person to us. He has been in Eket for so many years. The place, Royalty, used to be a bush but he came in, open up the place and today we are all witnesses to the success story of his investment in Eket.This has created jobs for many.
“You are a very lucky aspirant. Lucky to be selected by Governor Udom Emmanuel, our beloved son in whom we are well pleased. We are supporting you because we have known you to be a successful businessman. We will support you and will make sure that you succeed as our governor.”
In their separate speeches, a former speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and former House of Representatives member for Oron Federal Constituency, Mr Peter Linus Umoh, Chief Obot Etukaffia from Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency and a former commissioner, Dr. Ime Ekpoattai from Eket Federal Constituency, all pledged the total support of their various federal constituencies for the Umo Eno governorship project which is anchored on job creation, sustaining the peace and tempo of development in the state.
Introducing the governorship hopeful to the stakeholders, the director general of his campaign team, Chief Assam Assam, a former Nigerian Ambassador to Russia; the chairman, Maintain Peace Movement, Mr Emmanuel Enoidem; and Senator Effiong Bob described Pastor Eno as the best man for the job, and solicited the support of all to enable him to actualize his aspiration.
Addressing the stakeholders of the district, Pastor Eno who harped on job creation, youth empowerment, infrastructural development, human capacity development, small and medium enterprise development, promised to run an administration that will pay greater attention to the wellbeing of the people of the state.
“I stand here before you today to present myself to you and ask for goodwill as I aspire to become the governor of Akwa Ibom State come May 2023”.
“I’m engaging the youths. It’s time to build our youths from bottom up. We must begin to create the spirit of enterprise amongst our youths. We will build on the spirit of the dakkada philosophy. We do not need handouts, we need boosters, we need to enhance human capital development.
“We want to further the peace in Akwa Ibom, create business hubs to further prosperity in Akwa Ibom.We can create those jobs for the youths.
“For the elders in Eket Senatorial District, we will not leave you behind. We will cater for you. We will have a way of maintaining our elders”.
