BENIN CITY

The   Edo State chairman of Labour Party , Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi, has given a seven days ultimatum to one Ms. Blessing Agho over the alleged 30 million naira bribery allegation against the national chairman of the party, Mr Abure Julius, who was accused to have collected 30 million naira from Elizabeth Ativie,  a former Edo house speaker

Comrade Kelly made this known in a press statement made available to newsmen in the state capital.

According to him, it has become necessary to issue this ultimatum since the party leadership has carried out their internal investigations to be sure; nothing of such took place in the first instance

“The write-up was maliciously designed and sponsored by opposition parties to drag the party into the mud because of the party’s popularity in recent times ahead of the 2023 general election.”

While describing the allegations as baseless and unfounded he said the allegations were orchestrated by malicious individuals just to gain cheap political points.

“Ms. Blessing Agho has been maligning the name of our national chairman, Abure Julius, of collecting N30 million from Elizabeth Ativie. But as a party that believes in the vision of a new Nigeria, we carried out our internal investigations and finding revealed the write-up was coming from someone who was never a card carrying member of Labour Party.   She now felt that the best way to go gain the sympathy of the general public is to chunk out unfounded reports and circulate it on social media.”

Mr Kelly Ogbaloi further emphasized that unless she withdraw such statement and tender an apology to the leadership of the party, she would have multiple litigations bothering on defamation of character to battle with.

He however affirmed the party’s position that Ativie Elizabeth as published by Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) remainsthe candidate of Labour Party in Orionmwon/ Uhumnwonde federal constituency in the upcoming election.

He however called on Mr. Murphy Imasuen to remain a committed member of the party and place the party’s interest above personal interest.

Meanwhile, the state publicity secretary of the party, Comrade Sam Uroupa, has said the party is fully prepared for the electioneering, adding that the party would strictly abide by rules guiding political campaign and that the party campaign would be issue-based.

He said with the caliber of candidates’ field by the party both at the national and state levels, Labour Party would shock many as victory is certain
