Edo Assembly Constitutes 7-member EDSIEC To Conduct L/G Polls.

BENIN CITY 

Edo State House of Assembly on Monday approved the constitution of a 7-member Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) to conduct elections into local government councils across the state.

The approval of the newly constituted EDSIEC membership followed the consideration of a request by Governor Godwin Obaseki contained in a letter dated March 21, and signed by the secretary to the state government, Mr Osarodion Ogie to the parliament to confirm the nominees.

Confirming the membership of the EDSIEC, the speaker, MrMarcus Onobun, said the commission has Justice James Oyomire (rtd) as chairman.

While Mrs. Gladys Idahor ,Uduafi Gabriel (esq), Mr.FelixEbhota ,Mr. Michael Emmanuel, Vincent Aimienota and Okekuoyen Ehiedu are to serve as members.

Meanwhile, the house also passed a bill amending the law establishing the Edo State Local Government Law and the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission establishment and re-enactment law.
