Dakkada FC’s battle to avoid relegation got a boost with a 2-0 victory against Enyimba International FC of Aba.

At the week 17 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) played at the Goodwill Akpabio International Stadium, Sunday, new centre forward, Edidiong Ezekiel, shocked the People’s Elephant with a sixth-minute goal.

To get away from the bottom of the pile, Dakkada played a game of “loyalty” to themselves and surmounted the uphill battle against NPFL and CAF giants, Enyimba.

Edidiong was thankful for the role given to lead the attack, “I owe this goal to my coach and team mates. I really thank God that through me Dakkada has grabbed three points.”

Within the first half still, another opportunity was converted by Dakkada captain Aniekan Ekpe via a penalty in the 39th minute of play.

“I’ve to congratulate my team mates it was very difficult to play a good side like Enyimba. With the team spirit, we have Dakkada can never go on relegation.” Captain Aniekan Ekpesaid.

Coach Umar Danladi believes the club has a chance to finish in the top four.

The majority of Enyimba fans were furious with the team’s technical bench since they were not posing a threat to the Dakkada defence.

Meanwhile, Dakkada fans were in ecstasy with the performance of Dakkada and frequently urged the team to score more.

“By God’s grace Dakkada will finish mid of the log when the current performance is sustained.” Ukeme Ukpong, a staunch Dakkada fan said.
