Ahead of the May 25th governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom chapter of the Central Working Committee (CWC) of Christian Youths in Action (CYIA) has declared their endorsement of Pastor Umo Eno as their preferred choice to emerge standard bearer of the party.
The convener of the CYIA, Mr Sunday Umanah, stated this during a chat with newsmen on the heels of the pre-victory thanksgiving event organised by Friends of Umo Eno League (FUEL) in partnership with CYIA in Uyo, the state capital, at the Sheer Grace Event Centre recently.
Umanah observed that while the CYIA appreciates all those who have indicated interest to contest for the governorship, there is however need for the group to take a stand in the overall betterment and interest of the state.

According to him, CYIA would support the governorship ambition of the immediate-past commissioner for lands and water resources, Pastor Umo Eno and has endorsed him come 2023.
Umanah disclosed that the move became necessary to actualisethe collective dream of Akwa Ibom people in the face of the need to maintain the peace prevailing in the state and consolidate on the achievements of Gov Udom Emmanuel in the areas of industralization, infrastructural development, healthcare delivery and other subsectors of the state’s economy.
“We the youths of Akwa Ibom under the umbrella of Christian Youths in Action have gladly, confidently and most assuredly endorsed Pastor Umo Eno convinced that he possesses the requisite character, competence and capacity to lead Akwa Ibom people going forward and sustaining the current priceless peace prevalent in the state,” Umanah stated.

He expressed confidence that the PDP delegates would do what is right and best for Akwa Ibom by nominating Pastor Eno as the standard bearer of the party and he will by the grace of God be elected the next governor of the state come 2023.
Umanah, therefore, advised citizens in general and politicians in particular to play politics without bitterness and support all efforts aimed at ensuring the sustenance of peace without which development cannot be achieved.
Umanah said the CYIA is spread across the 31 local government areas of the state and has since commenced massive mobilization of youths from the different churches and denominations for the purpose of forging a united and formidable support base to drive the election of Eno.

Describing the pre-election thanksgiving as a successful event, Umanah thanked the chairman of FUEL, Mr Anietie Usen, for his passion and commitment to the vision of having Eno as governor, maintaining that the religious convention was a welcome development.
