Arrangement has been concluded for the payment of compensation to Mbikpong Atai community and other individual properties identified within and lying within the Dakkada Luxury Estate, the commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Mr Umo Eno has said.

Eno who stated this recently during an interaction with newsmen, said the inspection visit to the estate was to physically identify the property to be paid for and to tie the money to the different spots and owners in order to avoid releasing funds into the wrong hands.

He also noted that the visit was to monitor the progress of work at the site, disclosing that one of the contractors for the roads construction has defaulted and will be changed accordingly.

Eno who is the leading aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Governorship Primaries, said access roads have been fully created adding that the estate was ready for development by individual owners.

He said over 50 percent of plots in the the estate have been bought, and advised owners to adhere strictly to specifications in the course of development.

The lands commissioner also took time to introduce the new permanent secretary in the ministry, Mr Godwin Udo, to the state of affairs at the estate.

It is worthy of note that the estate sits on three communities:Ibiaku Obio Ndobo, and Ibiaku Ishiet both in Uruan Local Government Area and Mbikpong Atai in Ibesikpo-Asutan. While the two communities in Uruan had been paid full compensation, Mbikpong Atai was yet to be paid.
