The commissioner for economic development has tasked members of the Mandate Preservation Group (MPG) to continue to support Governor Udom Emmanuel’s succession plan.
Mr Emem Bob gave the task when a delegation of the MPG from the 31 local government areas of the state paid a courtesy visit on him at his office over the weekend.
Bob noted that, Akwa Ibom under the able leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel has experienced peace which has led to rapid development in all sectors of the state economy. Consequently, he called on all stakeholders to sustain the peace through support to the governor.
He, therefore, called on members of MPG not to relent in their unweavering support to Governor Emmanuel in his quest to produce a successor that will consolidate on the existing peace, security and infrastructural development of his administration.
As a strong member of MPG, Bob maintained that he is very grateful to Governor Emmanuel for the confidence reposed in him to serve the people of Akwa Ibom as a cabinet member.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the national coordinator of Mandate Preservation Group, Mr Mfon Ben, said the MPG has over the years worked to preserve the mandate the good people of Akwa Ibom entrusted to Governor Emmanuel.
He pledged the socio-political group’s commitment to ensuring that Governor Udom Emmanuel ends successfully, and transit power to his preferred successor.
