As the build up to the 2023 general elections continue to gather momentum, the leading aspirant for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem extended commitment towards consulting the ten PDP Chapter Chairmen of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
While addressing the Chapter Chairmen, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem asserted that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is the strongest, most endemic and organic political party in Nigeria. The International President, Maintain Peace Movement, MPM, stated that he has been a very committed, focused and dedicated party man all his life, saying that, the time is ripe for him to also reap what he has been sowing in the party by aspiring for an elected position – the Senate.
Barr. Enoidem revealed that his desire to go for Senate is well thought out, strategically planned in view of the fact that Nigeria is due for discussion. He signaled that he is thoroughly prepared to sit with other well meaning Nigerians on the table to discuss Nigeria and its way forward. “My going to Senate is not for vacation, am going there to negotiate and discus Nigeria because Nigeria is long over due for discussion, in order to profoundly define where we are headed considering the vast endowment and wealth of this Nation”.
The immediate past PDP National Legal Adviser, revealed further that he has the requisite credentials to represent Akwa Ibom Northwest Senatorial District and that he is prepared, with the right information, thinking pattern laced with experience to engender effective representation in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
He recalled that in 2015 he was called upon to go to the Senate by his then Boss, Senator Godswill Akpabio, but due to his excellent service delivery, his Boss demanded that he stay back and complete the task of building the State which he yielded to that demand on account of loyalty and respect for his Boss.
Again, in 2019 he was also called upon by the stakeholders of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District to contest the Senate seat, but he declined on personal grounds, adding that the timing was not right. Conversely, he asserted that, the time is now right and ripe for him to go and represent his people towards tracking down the much needed democratic gains to Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
Elaborating further, Barr. Enoidem assured party Chairmen of transparent representation reviewing how upright, prudent and transparent he was with party funds when he held swear as the State Party Treasurer. He pulled a shocker on how he left one hundred million Naira in the party treasury when he exited as Treasurer.
“When I left office as the State Party Treasurer, l left one Million Naira in the covers of the Party. That is how well I did at that level, meaning that, I will do better at the Senate as it regards accountability, transparency and effective representation”. Barr. Enoidem added.
Responding, and in their separate remarks, the Chapter Chairmen for Abak and Ukanafun, Dr. Mike Udoh and Mr. Godwin Ekpe respectively extolled the glaring qualities of Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, describing him as a man with a heart of gold and an excellent spirit, clothed with commitment, focus and dedication to any assigned task.
Mr. Godwin Ekpe particularly recalled how Barr. Enoidem when he was a Commissioner donated cars to people across board, including youths from Ukanafun who have instituted a livelihood from those cars. He praised Barr. Enoidem for being such a generous man who thinks beyond self. “not only that he bought people cars and supported the youths to make a life, he also supported and encouraged me when I nursed ambition to run for House of Assembly. He is a great supporter of people. That’s why my support and that of all the delegates in Ukanafun are for him” – Mr. Godwin Ekpe elaborated.
Commenting at the close of the consultation, Hon. Gabriel Toby observed that, “today is the mother of all consultations where Chapter Chairmen ventilated their minds, all pointing to the outstanding attributes of the person of Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem”.
The former lawmaker who is an ardent supporter of Barr. Enoidem expressed satisfaction at the spate of endorsement, acceptance and adoption of Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem across the ten Local Government Areas that make up Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, expressing optimism that there is nothing that can stop Barr. Enoidem from going to the Senate.
