Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested one Matthew Adams, an alleged notorious kidnapper, over his involvement in the kidnapping and attempted murder of one Mr Chukwudi Christian and Mr Nasiru George at Uzuala Quarters in Ekperi village, Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State, along with his gang members.
The alleged kidnapper, who the police classified as a notorious in the kidnapping business, was arrested in Lagos Island area of Lagos last month.
According to a release by the police spokesperson, SP Kontongs Bello, Matthew Adams and his gang said to be operating on the Ekperi-Agenebode road of Etsako, kidnapped and blind folded their victims then kept them in the forest.
In one of their operations, a victim, while in the forest, was said to have identified one of his abductors.
The identification made the kidnappers furious and shot the two victims and abandoned them in the pool of their blood thinking they were dead.
The victims after regaining consciousness, crawled out to safety and reported to the Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit of the police command.
On receipt of the report, the operatives immediately swung into action and arrested Matthew Adams who made useful confession that led to the arrest of Alex Ogbonna at the Auchi Park after being lured from Abuja for another kidnapping operation.
An alleged supplier of arms to the gang, also a coordinator of Aiye Cult Group in Ekperi/Anegbete and environs, Ugheoke Omokhoi Thomas was arrested at Ekperi.
Similarly, Abubakar Abdulaheem, who is the gang native doctor was arrested by way of equally controlled to a spot around Imiagba Community by the gang leader to come and fortify him for another kidnapping operation.
Investigation is still ongoing, while frantic effort is in place to arrest other fleeing gang members.
The suspects will be arraigned in court after investigation is concluded.
Item recovered from the suspects include cut to size gun, 6 live cartridges, assorted charms of different types.
