The commissioner for economic development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Mr Akan Okon, on Wednesday said the Akwa Ibom government will continue to partner with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to boost foreign-direct investments in the state.

Okon stated this when he played host to the comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service, Akwa Ibom State Command, CIS George C. Didel at his office in Uyo.

While thanking the Akwa lbom NIS comptroller general, Okon said the government would collaborate with the security agency to track and protect the activities of foreign investors in the state.

He also assured that the state government will provide necessary support that will assist men of the NIS in their operations.

“You came into the state and what you have done is to move around the various LGAs to find out what are the challenges of the men and the women and also engaging the various stakeholders in the state so you can have the simplest operations.

“You have talked about border patrol and yes we have the longest shoreline. And I’m very certain that the state governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel who has invested a lot will support you to enable you patrol entry points”, he said.

Earlier, CIS George C. Didel, said the visit was to create a good working relationship between the ministry and the NIS.

He acknowledged the level of development in the state and promised that his service will work to protect the various investments in the state.
