Relief is soon to come the way of indigenes of Oruk Anam, Etinan, Eket and Eastern Obolo local government areas as Akwa Ibom Government will in no distant time inaugurate more roads in these areas.
The commissioner for works and fire service, Professor Eno Ibanga, who dropped the hint while inspecting road projects in these areas recently, assured that a lot of projects would be completed before May this year for inauguration by Gov. Udom Emmanuel.
The commissioner said already, roads in Oron axis which include Urue Offong/Oruko, Okobo to the bridge and Atabong are ready and awaiting inauguration, adding that more roads across the state would be inaugurated in keeping with the governor’s promise of ensuring that all ongoing road projects are completed and inaugurated before the expiration of this administration.
Throwing more light on the Uyo-Etinan Road and Eket remodeling projects, the works and fire service helsman explained that these and other projects would be completed before September this year, saying for this feat to be achieved,Gov Emmanuel has consistently released funds to contractors to enable them deliverer on these projects as scheduled; as no excuse will be entertained.
Ibanga thanked Gov. Emmanuel for prioritising the construction of roads across the state as demonstrated in the prompt release of funds to contractors, urging the contractors to reciprocate this gesture by redoubling their efforts and making good use of the current dry season to ensure that these projects are completed and handed over as scheduled.
On his part, the project manager, Total Advance Construction, the contractor in-charge of the 12.5 kilometresIkot Ekaide -Ikot Okoro-Ikot Ibritam Road, Mr. Nayef Nayef (an engineer), who thanked the state government for the opportunity to serve the state assured the commissioner that speed will be increased in order to meet the target, disclosing that about 10 kilometres of the road is ready for asphalting and hopefully will be completed as stipulated.
