With Chinese as one of the most penetrative Languages in contemporary world, the Akwa Ibom government is to further knowledge of the language for ease of contractual transactions with Chinese companies handling projects in the state.
The commissioner for information and strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, made the disclosure, weekend, at the Juuldaam House, Uyo, during the certification and completion ceremony for trainees on Chinese Language sponsored by his ministry.
Ememobong, who congratulated the “Chinese Language Ambassadors” of the ministry, said the state government was to heighten training of employees in Chinese Language to reduce language barriers in interpretation of contractual transactions and boost confidence of government employees while dealing with the expatriates.
He said government was employing multiple strategies for human capacity building and manpower development through short-term courses within and outside the country, in-house trainings and on-the-job training, stressing that without such challenges like the COVID-19, the Chinese Language trainees should be preparing for further knowledge acquisition in the Republic of China.
The state information helmsman implored the trustees to keep the Language afresh with continuous practice and further reading, intimating that trainees with high proficiency in the Chinese Language will be sponsored for external professional certification examination by government.
Ememobong said qualified Chinese Language staff of the Ministry will be posted to MDAs with much Chineselanguage business engagement, including Akwa Ibom State Liaison offices in Abuja and Lagos, Ministry of Works, Ministry of Trade and Investments as well as Special Duties, among others, with a view to enhancing contractual transactions between the government and Chinese companies operating in the state.
He used the occasion to commend the directors in the Ministry who have been strong pillars of support in the discharge of the mandate of the Ministry and expressed appreciation to instructors at the Juuldaam Training Centre for the impactful work on the trainees as demonstrated in their playlets and other performances showcased at the ceremony.
Speaking, the lead consultant and regional manager of Juuldaam Training Centre, Dr Anthony Akadi, commended the commissioner of information and strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, for being a proactive leader who is committed to the capacity building and development of staff of his Ministry, adding that Ememobong has been very exceptional in response to issues bordering not only on the Ministry but the entire state.
Akadi lauded the tireless efforts of the lead Chinese instructor, Dr Idongesit Etim, in imparting knowledge to the trainees and urged them to constantly speak the language inorder not to forget the basic foundation.
Earlier, the coordinator of the training programme and director, Public Relations, in the Ministry, Mrs. Grace Akpan, had applauded the commissioner for information and strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, for the numerous training programmes he has sponsored for staff of the Ministry within and outside the country, including the leadership training at Dubai and specialised training in Chinese and sign language.
Akpan disclosed with happiness that Ememobong’s training initiative has not gone unnoticed as it has earned the Ministry, training nomination forms by the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru.
She applauded the 22 Chinese Language trainees for making the Ministry proud by successfully completing the programme and expressed gratitude to Juuldaam Training Centre for partnering the Ministry and indeed the Akwa Ibom government in the capacity building and manpower development of government employees.
Highlight of the event was a playlet by the lead Chinese instructor with the trainees and the presentation of completion certificates to trainees by the commissioner for information and strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong.
