NSIT UBIUM
The Akwa Ibom government has terminated the contract for the construction of Nsit Atai – Okobo -Oron Road project.
The State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, who stated this recently, at the funeral and thanksgiving service in honour of late Mrs Deborah Ekaette Imaikop Enoidem, mother-in-law of the immediate past secretary to the state government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, at St John U-N-A Primary School grounds, Ikot Ekpene Udo in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, said the contract would be re-awarded, for timely delivery of the project.
Eno noted that his administration was judiciously spending resources by channeling it to projects for the benefit of the citizens, warning indigenes of communities to desist from obstructing projects with illegal structures, in expectation of compensation.
He listed projects initiated by his administration in Oron Federal Constituency as 2.1km Ukpong Street, 2.1km Essang Street, Orukim-Uyenge Universal Energy Road, Okopedi by East West Road, Oruko-Eweme Road, and the re-modernisation of Oron bridge, assuring of the execution of more projects in Oro nation, and indeed the entire State.
Eno made known that in each local government area of the State, at least two projects are currently ongoing, and assured of more projects.
The governor, who said transparency remains the watch word of his administration, noted that despite the approval of funds for various projects, government has not taken any loan facility in the last 10 months.
He assured that his administration will continue to use the resources of the State to create jobs and support hardworking people who are ready to work.
Eno recalled his campaign promise of serving the people, saying his administration will continue to touch rural people, even as he will continue to serve the Oro nation by building on the foundation of his predecessor.
“There is no local government in the State which at least two projects are not ongoing. By the grace of God, we will continue to do more. We are spending money on projects and people are working and making a living from those projects.
“All the projects we have been doing, we are proud to say, we have not taken one loan from any bank in the last 10 months. I believe that we can use the resources we have in this State to work for the good of our people.
“I thank the Oro people, our in-laws. I’m working for you, as I do with the entire state, and I will continue to work for you. I will serve you in Oro Nation by building on the foundation of my predecessor. We will do much more”.
Eno extolled the qualities of the late Mrs Deborah Enoidem, describing her as a caring and loving mother who made everyone that came her way comfortable, urging the family to be consoled in the fact that their late mother had transited to a much better place.
