The Akwa Ibom government has restated its resolve to support productive ventures in the State to thrive.
The State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, stated this recently, during his visit to the Ibom Integrated Farm ownedby the paramount ruler of Onna Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Raymond Timothy Inyang, in Awa Ndon.
Eno assured that the state government will expand the already existing partnership with the Ibom Integrated Farms to increase production and enhance food sufficiency in line with the agricultural revolution aspiration of the ARISE Agenda.
He expressed the desire for a replication of such farms across the State, and assured of an off-taker arrangement by which the farmers will be guaranteed of profitable sales of their produce.
The governor commended Edidem Inyang for the impressive level of work done in the farm and directed that the commissioners for Finance, Agriculture and the managing director of Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation, AKICORP, should liaise with the farm management on ways its partnership can be expanded beyond the provision of seedlings, which was already provided to the farm.
“I must commend His Royal Majesty for the wonderful work he is doing here. I think he needs support. It is quite an impressive work here. There is already a partnership. The government is supporting the farm with seedlings, but we can extend the partnership. I think we just need to sit down and have a proper business plan.
“I have asked the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Agricultureand MD of AKICORP to come together let’s see how we can turn this around. We should have a few farms in the State like this, encourage them and particularly have an agreement where government will off-take from them”.
The paramount ruler of Onna, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Raymond Timothy Inyang, said he was elated to receive the governor in his farm.
Inyang said it was important that a partnership be established with the government to ensure food sufficiency for the people, in line with Gov Umo Eno’s vision as encapsulated in his ARISE agenda.
