The Akwa Ibom government has expended an average of N25,000 to register each candidate in the annual external final examinations.
Gov Udom Emmanuel gave the hints during a session of interactions across radio stations tagged, “The Governor Speaks edition 10,” which was conducted at Government House, Uyo, Saturday.
The governor said that the decision to commit the huge sums for the education of children was in recognition that nothing can take the place of education in human life, maintaining that the trend was also aimed at ensuring that Akwa Ibom was “moving towards being the number one in the list of educated states in the country and in the world.”
He remarked that the expectations of his administration was for our students for WAEC to show seriousness, and let parents help us to advise their wards, emphasizing, “Whatever we spend on education is an investment and we plead with parents to make sure their wards take it seriously.”
Emmanuel said that his administration has started theimplementation of the reports of the educational security submit by giving an approval for technical teachers to be employed, maintaining, “Education is a software plan and we’ve invested much in the sector.”
He hinted that opportunities have been opened for the training of aircraft maintenance engineers at the expense of the state, calling on indigenes of Akwa Ibom to take vantage of the intentions to build careers in the technical aviationindustry.
Emmanuel said that the current call for interested persons to undergo training has been pegged at 20 persons across the state, explaining that the call has only seen a response of only five applications, while stressing that the opportunity has been thrown open to all Akwa Ibom sons and daughters.
He emphasized, “Let me appeal to qualified persons to do so. We need 20 engineers as soon as possible. Akwa Ibomites please take this advantage and apply.”
